Two Cats
Description
What can you learn from the title of the
artwork?
The title, Two Cats, can tell me that in the
artwork there are two cats, that are the
paintings focus.
Description
What subjects in the artwork can you recognize?
I reconized that there was two cates, a ball of
yarn, a house, and one mouse.
Description
Looking at the elements of design, describe
what qualities you see.
I see the contrast between the cats since one is
yello and one is black. The white house contrast
the dark colors of the left side of the painting.
The cats have swirls that provide a fur like
texture.
Description
What media and techniques did the artist use?
The artist used form and teture, painting, and
color contrast.
Analysis
Emphasis: Is there a dominant element or focal
point that you see first?
The focus point is the black cat in the middle,
since its so big it stands out.
Analysis
Balance: Is there a special balance, or weight,
among the elements? What mood does it
create?
There is a good balance of dark and light colors
that covey the feeling of calmness and being
warm.
Analysis
Proportion: Do the proportions look normal,
ideal, or unusual? Why?
The proportions look normal. The cats are not
wonky and weird proportions. But they are no
perfectly ideal looking. So, they are normal.
Analysis
Pattern: Are elements repeated to create a
pattern? Where? Why?
The swirl technique was repeated a few times,
on the cats. This gave them dimension and
texture.
Analysis
Rhythm or Movement: What visual rhythms or
paths of movement do your eyes follow?
Where? Why?
There is movement because, you can see the
cats body shape is in mide motion, and the
shading on the mouse tail makes it look like its
moving.
Analysis
Unity and Variety: What elements bring
together, or unify many parts of the design.
Why? What elements add variety? Why?
The house and the mouse provide variety,
mainly because they are not cats. The house
also provides varity because of how ligtly
colored it is.The yellow cat unifies the dark black
cat by balancing the color.
Interpretation
Is there symbolism in the artwork? What do you
think it means?
There is no symbolism.
Interpretation
What feeling do you think the artist wanted to
give the viewer when looking at the work?
The artist wanted the viewer to feel at ease or at
home when they looked at this. It uses calm
colors and familier things to convey that.
Interpretation
Does the work remind you of other things you
have experienced?
The art reminds me of my home and of my cats
when I look at it.
Interpretation
How does the work relate to other ideas or
events in the world and/or in your other classes?
The art shows me two cats relaxing, telling me
that I should just relax. This applies to my school
work, because I should be relaxed with it and
not freak out.
Judgment
What parts of the work make you feel it is a
success or failure?
The art is sucsessful because I am able to see the
key details, but is a failure because I cant tell the
setting very well.

this work?
.texture
.color
.contrast
.unity
.movement
.shading
Judgment
How unique is the work? Why do you feel this
work is or is not unique?
The artwork is unique because of the swirl
pattern. That technique is very original looking.

What are some improvements you feel the artist
could have made to the work?
I think they could have made it clearer weather
or not they were inside or outside.
