Living in Prayer

How do we live God empowered

lives?
Living in relationship with God through prayer
and letting the Holy Spirits presence guide,
correct and fill our hearts.
The whole of Christian life is empowered by
God.
Paul says we are to pray ceaselessly. In other
words, that we are to live our lives in prayer.
Live in communication and closeness with
Him. This is the mark of the Christian life.
John 15: Abide in Me

John 15:5 - I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in
Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do
nothing
John 15:9 As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you. Abide in
my love.
John 15: 10 - If you keep my commandments you will abide in my
love.
John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you that My joy may
remain in you and that your joy may be full.
This is my commandment: that you love one another as I have loved
you.
Exodus 20: The Ten
Commandments
I am the Lord your God who brought out of the land of Egypt
You shall have no other gods before Me
You shall not make for yourself any carved image to worship them
or serve them as God
You shall not take the name of the Lord in vain
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy
Honor your father and mother
You shall not murder, commit adultery, steal or bear false witness
You shall not covet your neighbours possessions
Matthew 5: Sermon on the Mount

Gods moral standard: Heart transformation (more than just

behaviour modification).
Sin begins in the heart, we break the moral law before weve even
committed the action.
God wants to make us a new kind of people, not just people who
dont steal, kill and take the Lords name in vain.
You are the salt of the earth (Holdfast, stay true to God, keep your
faith).
You are the light of the world (shine Gods light to the world!)
Love your enemies. Forgive people for the evil things they do.
The Holy Spirit Empowers Us

To live the life Jesus calls us to in Matthew 5

To keep the commands of God
To know that we are loved
To love God and love our neighbours
To know that we were made with a purpose
To have Jesuss joy, peace and love
Its amazing! Relationship with God is the best
thing there is in the world
Read the Bible with the Holy Spirit

When we read the Bible, God wants us to read it

with Him, not just on our own.
He wants us to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to
guide our hearts while reading.
