History of Fashion garment


When Jacobs graduated from Parsons design school he went to work
designing fabrics for Perry Ellis. A few years later he was named Creative
Director for Louis Vuitton. Although the job was a professional triumph it
brought new troubles to him that started him on heavy drug and alcohol
use. After getting clean, he jumped back into work launching Louis Vuittons
first ready-to-wear line while also expanding his own label.

Business Partners
After graduating at the age of 21, he designed
his first collection for the label Sketchbook for
Ruben Thomas. In 1987 he became the
youngest designer to ever win the Council of
Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award
for New Fashion Talent.

First Collection
He has three Marc Jacobs collections two for adults
and one for children. He has also licensed his name to
perfumes and accessories. Celebrities that wear Marc
Jacobs include Ashlee Simpson, Courtney Cox, David
Beckham, Gwen Stefani, John Mayer, Lil Wayne, and
many more.

Style/Garment
Marc Jacobs has two designer brand lines known as
Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs. In addition to
designing other fashions including shoes, jewelry,
sunglasses, etc. Bag prices range anywhere from $195-
595, watches $99+, perfume from $50-150, sunglasses
$65-100, tops & blouses around $400, bottoms $295-
995, and shoes $295-525.

Target Market
By the age of 15 he was attending the High School of Art and Design while
working at a high scale clothing boutique Charivari.
Charivari allowed Marc to design sweaters for the store.
The work he did at Charivari helped him land a spot at Parsons School for
Design.
During graduation he won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award and Design
Student of the year.
He designed his first collection for the label sketchbook for Ruben Thomas.
In 1987 he won the Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award
for New Fashion Talent.
Jacobs took over as the womens-wear for Perry Ellis where he won the prize
for Womenswear Designer of the Year.
In 1997 he was named creative director for the Louis Vuitton house of luxury
goods Paris.
Marc began a period of heavy drug and alcohol abuse.
After rehab and getting clean Jacobs jumped back into work launching Louis
Vuittons first ready to wear line while expanding his own label.

Company History
Marc Jacobs has dozens of boutiques worldwide. His
designs are available in over 50 countries with close to
300 retail stores throughout the country. His products
are also sold online on his website.
