DESIGN CONCEPTS

B.V.DOSHI was greatly inspired by Mughal

Buildings. This design takes inspiration from the
Fatehpur Sikri complex. Instead of keeping the
Courtyards dry and rigid he merged the courtyards
Of Fatehpur Sikri and the gardens of Bangalore.
Thus the plan obtained its interlinking courtyards
And corridors. (FATEHPUR SIKRI)
PLANNING :
The entire block was designed as one whole part
So that the students can move without feeling
Sudden changes and also creating a certain flowing
(Kind of rivers flow).

There are lots of musical rythms in the campus

Organised and random at the same time.

The plan contains elements that shift and
Break axiality and draws many principles
From Mughal city. The openings are also not
Regularly placed there are sudden vistas
(A pleasing view such as lawns). Greenary
Forms an integral part of the complex. The
Light plays a crucial role in the complex.
FEATURES OF IIM :
The complex is said to be a blent of morden and
Traditional architectural style.
The functional and physical attributes of its
design are related to the pavilion like spaces
courtyards, and ample provision for plantation of
Saplings.
The access to the classrooms and administrative
office is provided through these green corridors
The comples is designed in such a way that its
Uses are able to feel and see the nature even when
Inside the classroom.
The real energy here is devoted to semi coward

The pergolas and geometrical roofs let in
The controlled sunlight and creates a beautiful
Pattern in the floor and walls.
Also eventually avoids the excess heat from
Entering the building and thus keeping the
Complex cool. The voids in the structure allows
Fresh air from the green surrounding.
Sky lights are given in the needed area
And also saves lots of electricity.
It creates a dramatic effect by
Highlighting certain areas. The building
Is low on maintenance.
When you do simple things they last very
Long.
