GREEN VILLAGE DESIGN
About more than 2/3th of populations of India live in
villages ( Rural areas ).
The life of people are not comfortable in the villages
due to lack of sources and modern features although
they are working hard.
Green Village Design Concept
To make lives of villagers self sustaining and
comfortable by improving their poverty level is green
village designing.
Design of A Green Village
Consider a village consisting of 200 250 households.
The village is situated 30 kms away from the electrical
grid. The main occupation of the people is agriculture
and ranching (Pashupalan) and somewhere fishing also.
Design of A Green Village
To design the village green we
have to achieve the following tasks:-
1.Electrification through Renewable
Energy Technologies1 :-
(i). Bio-gas Plant.
(ii). Solar Technology.
(iii). Micro-hydel power Plant.
Bio-gas Plant :- Bio-gas is a clean unpolluted & cheap
source of energy in rural areas. It consists of 55-70%
methane (CH4) which is inflammable. Bio-gas is
produced from cattle dung in a bio-gas plant
commonly known as Gobar Gas Plant.
Solar Technology :- Solar energy is derived from suns
radiations (light ).
It is an amazing fact that energy that it provides to the earth for
one hour by the Sun, could meet the global energy needs for one
year.
Advantages :-
It is a renewable source.
It free of charge and obligation.
Solar energy can be used for the area without access to the
energy grid.
Low maintenance cost.
It is a pollution free energy source.
Micro-hydel Power Plant :- Micro-hydel power is the small- scale
harnessing of energy from falling water such as steep mountain
rivers, using this renewable & non-polluting resource , it can
generate power for homes, hospitals, schools and small
workshops.
It is a renewable energy source because the water cycle is
continuous.

2.Rain Water Harvesting :-
Rain water harvesting is the process of
collecting, conveying, & storing water from rainfall in
an area for beneficial future use.

3. Set up of Small Scale Industries (SSI)2:-
for increasing the income and employment generation
following SSI must be set up in
the villages :-
Handcrafts industry.
Food products industry.
Oil production.
Plastics products industry.
Carpentry works.
Soap industry.
Clothing weaving and sewing.
Packaging of drinking water.
Candle making.
Agarbatti making.
4. Village should have health clinic/Hospital.
5. Improve the education standard (consider school is
already present in the village itself).
6. Further education.
7. Pollution and population awareness among the
villagers.
8.Interconnection of villages to the nearest cities.
Cost Analysis3
SI No. projects Approximated
costs ranges in Rs.
1. water treatment plant & Canal Development 97,50,000
1,50,00,000
2. Solar system 18,00,000
20,00,000
3. Bio Gas Plant (capacity About 10 tones Cattle 30,00,000
dung) 35,00,000
4. Small Electrical Grid 60,00,000
65,00,000
5. Rain water Harvesting(per Hectare for 3 year) 800,000 1,00,000

6. Small Unit of Micro-Hydel Plant 65,00,000

80,00,000

Total investment for Green Village 2,78,50,000

3,51,00,000
CONCLUSION
To make the life villagers easier and comfortable we have to
focus on the occupations of the villagers and enhance it with
the help of modern technologies. We also have to aware them
about the utilisation of the sources available in the villages. The
sources which are essential for their occupations but not
available in the village, we have to implement it in the village.
