Geometry

Multi-turn Coil
Magnetic Core

Air region
Physics: Nonlinear HB/BH Curve
Amperes Law feature is added to model the nonlinear magnetic material
with Constitutive relation set to HB Curve.
The added Amperes Law is renamed as Amperes Law (Nonlinear)
Amperes Law (Nonlinear) feature is active only for Study 1 -> Step 1: Time
Dependent: Nonlinear
The Nonlinear HB/BH Curve model is solved using Time Dependent
solver for only two cycles.
Winding is modeled using Multi-Turn Coil feature with current
excitation.
Physics: Nonlinear Effective HB/BH Curve
Amperes Law feature is added to model the nonlinear magnetic material in
frequency domain with Constitutive relation set to Effective HB Curve.
The added Amperes Law is renamed as Amperes Law (Effective)
Amperes Law (Effective) feature is active only for Study 2 -> Step 1:
Frequency Domain: Effective
The Nonlinear HB/BH Curve model is solved using Frequency Domain
study at f0 = 1000[Hz].
A separate Multi-Turn Coil feature is added for Frequency Domain study
with current excitation, renamed as Multi-Turn Coil (Frequency)
Physics: Linear Material
Amperes Law feature is added to model the linear magnetic material in
frequency domain with Constitutive relation set to Relative permeability.
The added Amperes Law is renamed as Amperes Law (Linear)
Amperes Law (Linear) feature is active only for Study 3 -> Step 1: Frequency
Domain: Effective
The linear magnetic material model is solved using Frequency Domain
study at f0 = 1000[Hz].
Same Multi-Turn Coil (Frequency) feature is used for linear material
model as well.
Study 1: Time Domain: Nonlinear
Study 2: Frequency Domain: Effective
Study 3: Frequency Domain: Linear
Mesh
Point of measurement
Free Triangular mesh is used
everywhere in the model.
Normal mesh size is selected for air
Extremely fine mesh is chosen in the
magnetic core region
Mesh is further refined in one of the
corner of the core where the
magnetic flux density (B) filed is being
measures.
