Mission Statement
The Philippine College of Technology and Counselling Office supports the academic
mission of the College by providing services and programs designed to help students
maintain their emotional well-being in order to achieve their educational success. Our
mission is inspired by the values of compassion, diversity, social responsibility, integrity,
and accountability of individual students while also focusing on the milieu of the entire
campus community.
Services
provided by
the program
include:
Individual Inventory

Pertinent information about each student is gathered, documented and


filed in cumulative folder providing much needed data for immediate
reference in assisting students. The data gathered can be used in proper
diagnoses, predicting progress and behaviours, accurate placement and
program evaluation. Individual Inventory includes the following:

Counselling
Service
The heart of the guidance services. This program helps the individuals
become the persons they are capable of becoming. This also assists the
students in gaining insights to solve problems and in developing their
potentials. Couseling may take two forms:

Individual Counselling - an interaction between two individuals only, the


counsellor and the client. This is done especially if the problem is peculiar and
particular to the individual and if the client is so private that he/she would not
open up in a group.
Group Counselling - this is extended to several individuals with similar
problems or common desired goal.
Orientation & Information Service

Information
This program provides the students with a wide range of information from diverse sources.
This also helps the students discover more possibilities that had already been though about
by weighing the pros and cons of each possibility and make formed decisions on the matter
at hand. Information may take the following forms:

Testing
The student's individual strengths and weaknesses in the areas of
personality, aptitudes, interests, needs and job skills are assessed through
the use of standardized tests. Test results are interpreted to the students
by their respective guidance counsellors for self-awareness, growth and
development. Test interpretations are also made available in groups.
Referral& Follow up Service

Referral
This service involves the tapping of agencies,
organizations, or individuals that may be of
better assistance in the client's resolution of
problems and attainment of full potential.

Follow-up
This service is concerned for looking after the
counselees who have been counselled or
referred. Placement-related follow-up is also
included.
Consultation

Consultation
This service is done through a mutual sharing and analysis
of information with parents, faculty and
administration/management to facilitate decision-making
and learning about strategies for helping clients.
Career Guidance
empowering students to consider their academic
performance, personality, strengths, and career interests
to plan and pursue individualized college and career

SPECIAL PROGRAM
PEER Facilitator Program

Peer Facilitating - a trained group of students interact


with their peers during classroom guidance activities,
group counselling sessions and orientation programs.
Procedures for Receiving Services
I. SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS
It is preferred that clients schedule appointments with the Counselor to ensure that
they are
seen in a timely manner and that the Counselor is available to assist them. Clients can
initiate an appointment with the Counselor by in-person contact, email, or by
telephone.

II. WALK-IN CLIENTS


Clients with appointments take precedence over walk-in clients. Clients seeking
counseling
Services on a walk-in basis will be seen on a first come, first served basis. Clients with
less urgent needs are encouraged to schedule an appointment to ensure that they are
seen in a timely manner.
**PCT Guidance and Counseling Office does not offer court-mandated or forensically
oriented
Program Accessibility
The goal of the Guidance and Counseling Office is to work collaboratively with
students, academic divisions, departments, individual faculty members, student
services, and other pertinent departments of the institution to enhance student's
academic, personal, and career success. Counseling services and referrals are
available to all regularly enrolled students, faculty members, and staff at Philippine
College of Technology. Students include all persons in the following categories:

a. All students enrolled in undergraduate program sponsored by the


College.
Faculty and Staff include all persons in the following categories:
a. Part-time and full time individuals who are currently employed by Philippine
College of Technology.
b. Administrative/professional and support staff
**REFERRALS will be given to all faculty and staff members for outside services.
The
PCT Guidance and Counseling Office will not see faculty and staff for counseling
sessions.
