The plot of King Arthur
Exposition
England has no king and people are fighting.
Merlin puts up a magic stone with a sword in it,
which only the true king can pull out. Arthur pulls
out the sword and is declared king. Merlin helps
him until he becomes a strong good king. King
Arthur wins battles and is loved by the people. He
falls in love with Guinevere but Merlin predicts a
dark future for them.
Conflict / Rising Action
Merlin decides to leave and gives King Arthur
a sword for his protection. King Arthur and
Guinevere marry and everyone accepts it, the
king builds a castle and names it Camelot. King
Arthur holds a competition to find the best
knights in the country. Gawain losses to
Lancelot who becomes the first knight of the
Round Table.
Climax
King Arthur and Lanelot are close friends.
Lancelot and Guinevere often go riding
together and this is exploited by Morgan and
Mordred to drive a wedge between them.
King Arthur banishes Lancelot from Camelot.
The kingdom gets into a bad shape. Intisgated
by Morgan, King Arthur searches Lancelot for
a fight. The latter refuses and King Arthur is
informed that Mordred has taken over the
throne
Falling action
King Arthur and Mordred battle it out. King
Arthur is seriously wounded, Lancelot arrives
and kills Mordred.
Resolution
Lancelot helps King Arthur throw his sword
into the water. Merlin appears and takes
Arthur away with him.
MORAL VALUE AND LESSON
The values in the novel are:
A leader should provide proper and strong leadership.
We should look after the interest of our team members
A leader should give opportunities to his members to grow mentally
and physically.
We should value friendship that is true and sincere.
Do not be taken in by people including family members who are
insincere.
We should know how to differentiate between true and false
friendships.
