a typical OMC-R hardware configuration including:

- two redundant servers (with 2 operational X.25 links),
- several workstations,
- a laser printer,
- one or more Remote Operation Terminals (ROTs) (V22b modem,
XYPLEX).

In a lecture room, the students are allowed to access an OMC-R connected to

a BSS on one side and to a NSS on the other side (so that some calls can be
established).

Objectives

This course covers the principles and describes the procedures related to
the BSS Operation and Maintenance tasks. It is based on the exhaustive
use of the OMC-R. The course includes both a theoretical part and a
"Confidential information -- may not be copied or disclosed without permission".

practical part. Emphasis has been put on many hands-on exercises.

Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

create and setup the BSS (BSC, BTS and TCU) network, modify the
parameters, upgrade the BSS software version, backup and restore
the database
monitor performances network
maintain the BSS (understand alarms and notifications, then
accurately identify and locate the faults)
operate the Remote terminal ROT.
