is all about
People werent invited, they just
showed up
Always very large and Gatsby didnt
worry about what it would
cost(stinginess was looked down upon)

During the jazz age a bigger emphasis


was put on wealth and possessions
Daisy is a prime example of materialism
in people of the time
People spent vast amounts of money on
things they didnt need
Poverty

For this lifestyle and wealth to be


maintained people needed to be stuck
in poverty
The Valley of Ashes is an example of
the hopelessness of poverty
An East and West Egg cannot exist
without a Valley of Ashes
