Portland Composite Cement/PCC or Portland Pozolan
Cement/PPC type
Use of other cement type shall be approved by Owner
Cement shall be stored in a water tight and good-
ventilated warehouse on a raised floor of 30 cm
above the ground to avoid decomposition. Cement
bag should not be stacked in more than 10 layers.
Cement, which is mixed with dirt, soaked, or moist,
shall be rejected and immediately discarded from the
project at the Contractors expense.

2
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

1.2. Coarse and Fine Aggregate

The coarse and fine aggregate shall comply with the
requirements of PBI 1971 and SII 0052-80

Coarse aggregate must have good gradation and good

density (not porous) and comply with hardness
requirements. Coarse aggregate must not contain mud
of above 1% and other substance which may
contaminate the concrete. The diameter of coarse
aggregate must not exceed 2.5 cm

3
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

1.3. Water
Water for concrete mix and concrete curing must be
clean and free of substances which may contaminate
the concrete. The water must comply with the
requirements of PBI 1971 (N.I.-2). The source of the
water must be approved by the Owner and must be
tested at the Contractors expense.

4
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
1.4. Admixture
To increase the concrete resistance to acid:
o Fat Pit and Effluent Pond.
Admixture is a SIKA product:
o SIKAFume, with a dosage of 5% cement weight.
o SIKAment-LN, with a dosage of 1% cement weight
Prior to concrete pouring, the Contractor must
perform concrete trial mix with both types of admi
xture to determine the required water content. This
trial mix must be supervised and approved by the
Owner and it shall be used as a standard for the
next mix design.

5
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

1.5. Grouting
Grouting is applied on the concrete surface, beneath
the base plate of the steel column or machinery.

The grouting to be applied is a SIKA product i.e.

SIKAGrout 214-11/215.

6
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
1.6. Bonding Agent
Bonding agent is required for surface connection
between existing and new concrete.
The bonding agent to be applied is a SIKA
product i.e. SIKABond NV.

1.7. Reinforcement Steel

o BJTP-24 (Plain bar) for diameter of < 13 mm.
o BJTD-40 (deform bar) for diameter of > 13 mm.
Prior to installation, rebar surface must be free of
rust, grease, dirt and other substances which
may reduce adhesion to the concrete

7
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

1.8. Wiremesh
Wire mesh must have a minimum yield strength of
5000 kg/cm2. The wire mesh shall be deformed
reinforcement.
Prior to installation, wire mesh surface must be free of
rust, grease, dirt and other substances which may
reduce adhesion to the concrete

8
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

1.9. Form work/ mold

Form work is either made of class 2 wooden boards
with a minimum thickness of 2 cm or plywood panels
with a minimum thickness of 1.2 cm.
Form work must be installed neatly and rigidly so that
when it is removed, it will produce a smooth flat
surface which requires only minor finishing. The gaps
between panels must be tight so that when the
concrete is poured, the water will not flow out.
The formwork must be rigid and able of withstanding
loading during concrete pouring.

9
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
2. Requirement and Method of Construction

2.1. Reinforcement Work

Reinforcement placing, bending, joining shall comply

with requirements of PBI 1971 and SK SNI T-15-1991-
03.
The quantity, diameter, and spacing of reinforcement
must refer to the drawings.

Stirrup.

Decking concrete.

10
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

2.2. Scaffolding
The scaffolding structures must be rigid and capable of
withstanding any loading during concrete pouring.

Dismantling of Scaffolding shall be approved by the

Owner. After the mold opened, any changes to the
concrete surface shall not be allowed unless
approved by the owner

11
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

The minimum period for dismantling of scaffolding after

completion of concrete pouring

Structural Part Minimum Period

Column 7 days

Beam & wall 7 days

Retaining wall
14 days
and pit

12
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
2.3. Pouring Preparation
Prior to concrete pouring, concrete mixers and other
equipment must be cleaned and ready for use.
The reinforcement must be correctly placed as per
drawings.
The inside parts of the mold must be cleaned from
loose materials, dirt, or wire / steel debris.
The existing concrete surface to be connected with the
new concrete, must be firstly chipped. Then, it is
cleaned from all loose concrete debris, poured water
until it saturates and covered with SIKABond NV
bonding agent prior to concrete poured.

13
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
2.4. Concrete Mixing
Prior to start the concrete work, trial mix shall be done,
as per PBI 1971 or SK SNI T-15-1990-03.

The concrete must be mixed by concrete mixer. Mixers

must be cleaned prior to be used.

Hardened concrete is not allowed for remixing.

The dose of admixture to increase the concrete

resistance to acid must comply with manufacturer
requirements and its mix design must be approved by
the Owner.

14
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
2.5. Concrete Pouring
The concrete pouring shall be subject to verification of
the installed mold, reinforcement, and anchor by owner.
The concrete viscosity (consistency) must be
monitored by slump test as per PBI 71
Slump (cm)
Description minimu
maximum

Footing 12.5 5

Slab, Beam, Column and Wall 15 7.5

15
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

Concrete must be poured less than 30 minutes after mixing

Concrete must not be dropped from a height of above 1.5 m

unless Tremie pipes used. Concrete segregation is not
allowed
Vibrator should be used during Concrete pouring. Vibrator
must be inserted perpendicularly. It must not be done for
too long (over vibration) to avoid segregation.

16
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
2.6. Concrete Curing
Concrete must be protected from the sun to prevent
quick evaporation which may cause shrinkage. The
concrete must be soaked for a minimum period of two
weeks after pouring. The water for curing must be
clean from any chemical substance which may
contaminate the concrete.

Concrete slabs below 21 days of ages must not be used

for stacking of heavy materials or as an access of heavy
equipment.

17
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

2.7. Concrete Testing

The Contractor must provide sufficient manpower,
material, area and all required equipment to perform
all concrete tests below:
o Slump test.
o Crushing /compressive strength test.
o Hammer test or core drill test (if needed)

Each sample test must be clearly marked with

production date and from which part the concrete had
been taken from.

18
GENERAL SPECIFICATION
2.8. Grouting Work
Concrete surface to be grouted must firstly be cleaned
of dirt, dust, loose particles, and oil layer.
Concrete surface must be chipped to produce
maximum bonding
Grouted surface must be protected from
environmental impact for a minimum period of 3
days after the concrete is poured.

19
GENERAL SPECIFICATION

2.9. Rejection of Concrete Work

The Owner has the right to reject a concrete work
which does not meet the requirements (quality and
dimension).
Dimensions tolerance shall be as follow:

o Centre line position of structural part finishing at all

points is 1 mm from the intended position.
o Size of structure with dimension < 3 m: tolerance of 0.5
cm.
o Size of structure with dimension > 3 m: tolerance of 1.0
cm.
