Types of Motivation definition example

1. Intrinsic Motivation The act of being motivated by Example 1:A student attends guitar

external factors such as rewards example, the chances of the student

the student only seeks an excuse to quit.

give up playing guitar if the allowance
money isn't doubled as promised.
MOTIVATIONAL CYCLE

is a transition of stateswithin an organismthat propels the


organism toward the satisfaction of a particular need.
Phases of the motivation cycle are
a. Need - is lack or deficit of some necessity.
b. Drive - as the state of tension or arousal produced by need.
-The drive can also be considered as the original source of energy that activates an organism.

c. Incentive - It motivates or encourage someone to do


something.
d. Goal - something that wants to achieve.

Two categories of motives

Primary Motives:
Motives which are linked with basic primary needs and
associated with biological well being of an individual.
(Needs that are fundamental for survival.)

Needs that come under this category:

*Need for food, water and oxygen.


*Need to take rest when tired
*Need for being active when rested
*Need for regular elimination of waste products from our body
SECONDARY MOTIVES:
MOTIVES LINKED WITH ONES SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS
ARE KNOWN AS SECONDARY OR PSYCHOLOGICAL MOTIVES.

NEEDS THAT COME UNDER THIS CATEGORY:

*NEED FOR FREEDOM


*NEED FOR SECURITY
*NEED TO ACHIEVE
*NEED FOR AFFECTION
*NEED FOR RECOGNITION
*NEED FOR COMPANIONSHIP
*NEED FOR SELF ACTUALIZATION
