Project Background

Aims to build resilience to disasters among the
nations worldwide.

The Philippines, lying on the

Circum-Pacific Seismic Belt, is
vulnerable from natural disasters.

One of the most disaster-prone countries in

the world with annual damages amounting to
0.7% of the GDP per year and deaths
averaging 1,000 person per year.

Project Objectives

1. To strengthen the local capacities of

the beneficiaries through the
provision of income generating
activities to help revitalize the
communities.

2. Sustainability of efforts towards the

ultimate goal of building resilience
of the community to disasters.

The project is still on going and we are now

gradually observing its impact among the
beneficiaries.

I am hoping that the next slides to be shown

will sustain action and inspiration towards
the true goal of building resilience.

Poverty is still a problem in the
Philippines and the disasters are
expected to be frequent and extreme
due to climate change.

The direct relationship between

poverty and disasters indeed
requires an initiative to reduce
poverty to decrease the vulnerability
of communities to hazards which
will lead to the development of
resilience of the people.

We intend to replicate this project in

other areas. We are hoping that
with your kind support (in any
form), this mission will be
materialized.
