What the report is about
Hypothesis-Higher the Grade the higher
the height
Direction-positive
Strength- strong
Sample survey
Measure their height and compare it to
the grade their in
Data set
Population- In a statistical study is the entire group of
individuals about which we want information
Our population- DAHS students
Sample- Part of the population from which we
actually collect information, which is then used to
draw conclusion about the end
Our sample- Students at the DuBois Area High School
Variable-Characteristic of any individual. It can take
diferent values for diferent individuals
Explanatory variable-Grade level
Response variable-Height

Grade Levels Data Points

Interpret r and r2
If r=.155, the correlation is positive meaning as grades
increase, height increases. The correlation of .155 means
the correlation is weak meaning the correlation is not
valid. Since r=.155, then r2= .024 meaning any
prediction has a 2.4% variation.

If r2=.024, the correlation is unknown meaning as grade

increase, height is unknown. The correlation of .155 means
the correlation is weak meaning the correlation is not valid.
Since r=.155, then r2=.024 meaning any prediction has a
2.4% variation.
Prediction
Ifyou are 68 inches, then I predict you
will be in 12.322 grade level with a
variation of 2.4%. So this prediction is
invalid.
Lurking Variable
One lurking variable is that some people are
really short no matter what grade theyre in.
That afects the graph because we could
have a senior the size of a freshman.
Another lurking variable is that you could be
held back a year in school. That could be a
big growth spurt for a kid in one year . He/
she could be in 11th grade but should be in
12th grade meaning he/she would be a BIG
11th grader.
Conclusion
Hypothesis-Higher the Grade the higher
the height
Our direction is a positive correlation,
but the correlation is r=.155, which is
weak
