Earth

By:Luis Vega,Kristina Bowden

Did you know Earth is the only planet in our solar system not to be
named after a Greek or Roman deity.
Earth's main Idea

Our presentation is on Earth.

We will be talking about earth, and earth's
atmosphere.
interesting facts about earth.
Earth falls 3rd in the order of planets.

Earth is about 92.96 million miles from the

sun.

Earth is an inner planet.

Size of planet
Earth's radius-3,959 miles

Age-4.54 billion years old

Distance from the sun-92,960,000 miles

Mass- 5.972E24 Kg

Population-7.125 billion

Earth is the third planet from the Sun, the densest planet in the Solar
System, the largest of the Solar System's four terrestrial planets, and
the only astronomical object known to harbor life.
Earth's Appearance
Earth is the only planet in our system to have water in its surface.

The surface of our planet contains of 70% water, 92% of its made up of
oceans.

The landmarks that make up earth's surface include water bodies,

volcanoes,deserts and other land areas.

From space all you can see on earth surface are the continents, ocean
caps, and clouds.

The cloud patterns on the surface of earth change constantly

Rotation
Earth rotates west towards
east.
Earth axis is tilted 23.5
degrees away from the plane
of the ecliptic
Earth has 4 seasons
Earth roughly rotates about
1,040 MPH in about a day.
Revolution
There are two types of earth revolution:Around the axis and around the
sun.

The earth revolves around the sun once every 365.242.199 mean solar
days(that's why we have leap years).

The earth orbits the sun at a speed of 108,000 km/h.

The earth rotates on its axis once during an approximate 24 hours.

Earth composition
Earth's crust is made up of several elements. oxygen 47%,Silicon
27%,aluminum 8%,iron 5%,calcium 4%,magnesium,potassium,sodium
2%.

The crust is divided into huge plates that float on the mantle, the next
layer.
Earth's Atmosphere
The atmosphere is a mixture of nitrogen (78%), oxygen (21%), and other
gases (1%) that surrounds earth.

High above the planet, the atmosphere becomes thinner until it gradually
reaches space.

The atmosphere is divided into 5 layers

Most of the weather and the clouds are found in the first layer.
Earth satellite and rings
The moon is earth's only natural satellite.

It is one of the largest natural satellites in the solar system, and, among
planetary satellites, the largest relative to the size of the planet it orbits.

Earth doesnt have rings, and probably never did.

If there was any ring of dust orbiting the planet, wed see it.
