 INTRODUCTION:
Different activities such as building, transportation
and manufacturing produce large amount of
wastes that leads to pollution of water, soil, and
namely air.
Untreated waste is a major cause of pollution in
the environment.
In this presentation we will see the major causes
of pollution, their effects on our environment and
the various measures that can be taken to
control air pollution.
 CAUSES / EFFECTS

The agents which cause air pollution are called

pollutants. A pollutant may be defined as a
physical, chemical or biological substance let out
into the environment with harm to humans and
other living organisms.
Human activities affect the environment.
Automobiles emit from their tail pipes carbon
dioxide (known as Co2). Their soot blackens the
atmosphere.
Air pollution is a result of industrial and certain
domestic activity.

AIR POLLUTION
Children and ladies exposed to smoke may suffer
from acute respiratory problems which include
running nose, cough, sore throat, lung infection,
asthma, difficulty in breathing.
Prevention and control of indoor air pollution Use
of wood should be replaced by cleaner fuels
such as kerosene or electricity. The house
designs should include a well ventilated
kitchen. .
 Prevention and control of industrial pollution
can be greatly reduced by:
The use of cleaner fuels such as
liquefied natural gas in power plants which
is cheaper and environmentally friendly.

This presentation is an attempt to describe
the harmful causes and the undesirable
effects of air pollution with a set of
preventive measures to become much
friendly to our environment.
