CASE PRESENTATION

ASHLEY JENKINS
BIASES

What are some biases you had going into the interview?
After seeing her mother chase her around the school on more than one occasion, I
thought that maybe she was acting like a spoiled brat, without knowing her whole
story.
She would lay in the floor and throw fits when something did not go exactly her
way.
DIFFERENCES IN VALUES

What were some value differences between you and the client?
I value living in a stable place that I can call home, while my client values having
somewhere to lay their head at night with a roof over their head.
I value the relationship I share with my family, while my client values any attention
her mom decides to give them that day.
I value being able to sit down and have a full meal, while my client values any food
given to her.
LIFE EXPERIENCES

What events or life experiences have shaped them into the person they are?
Client does not know who her father is.
Getting kicked out of their home and having to live in a trailer with holes in the
walls, no running water, no electricity, freezing temperatures, diabetic brother
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS

What is the staff recommendation about diagnosis, interventions, or treatment?

Staff agrees that her deficits interfere with her ability to be successful in a regular
classroom.
She is taken out of regular classroom and placed with an EC (Exceptional Children)
teacher at certain times of the day.
Receives read aloud during tests and activities when needed.
Takes medication to help her focus.
RESEARCH
What does research say on their diagnosis/ problem/ treatment?
Math, reading, and written expression weaknesses are common in children
diagnosed with ADHD.
Students with ADHD tend to show signs of reduced self control.
Stimulate medications are most commonly used among those whom have been
diagnosed with ADHD in order to reduce classroom disruptions, as well as improve
academic progress.
Extra time on in-class assignments seems to be on of the most efficient practices
for not only ADHD children, but all children in order to have academic success.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CHANGE

What changes do you recommend for the agency or service (Needs of agency,
changes, and rights issues)?
I dont necessarily recommend any changes. Beulaville Elementary should just
continue to monitor these types of cases, and continue to keep track of academics
progress and declines.
Continue to monitor students and work on meeting with her throughout the week in
order to avoid meltdowns, giving her a chance to talk to her worries and
aggressions.
