Thus being the case, you might have
encountered, without you knowing it,
the different tropes in television
programs.

They are also conventions seen in
television genres.
In the study of literature, tropes are
the figures of speech that audiences
recognize too easily because of their
occurrences in almost all programs
under a particular genre.
