ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENTATION YIELD OF WATERSHED AREA
USING SWAT
INTRODUCTION
Soil erosion is one of the pressing issue facing on developing countries

Soil erosion is defined as detachment transportation and deposition of

soil particles from one place to another under influence of wind or water
Sedimentation is defined as any fragmented material, which is
transported or deposited by water, air or ice as natural agents.
Sedimentation yield is the amount of the sediment deposited or flow
out in a particular area in year time basis.
A number of studies have been carried out to investigate the
erosion process and its governing with physical factors. Based
on these studies, numerous computer-models have been
developed estimate the rate of sedimentation yield.
Hence, Q-SWAT model was selected and it processes
through which hyrologically and it estimates the soil
loss to the area of the GV48 sub watershed.
SWAT could be used to identify the Vulnerable area
and it used to adopt a best management practices
through over the sub watershed.
OBJECTIVES

To develop a sediment transport model for

GV-48 sub basin watershed using SWAT.
LOCATION AND
EXTENT
The study area is bounded by
North latitudes 19.57 and
19.72 North longitude 74.95
and 75.26 East. falls in the
Gangapur Taluka of
Aurangabad district in
Maharashtra.
The area experiences Moderately
Tropical type of climate.
Average annual rainfall of the
area is about 796.13mm.

Area = 236km2
SWAT- SOIL AND WATER
ASSESSMENT TOOL.
It is a river basin or watershed model, scale model has predict the land
management practices on water, sediment yield and agricultural chemical
complex yield in large complex through the watershed area.

SWAT model has predict the long term sediment yield to their catchment
areas and it has calculated the value of sediment through input data.

Q-SWAT-QGIS extension and graphical user input interference for SWAT.

HYDROLIOGICAL HRU SWAT MAP
RESPONSE UNIT (HRU)
Are areas within a
watershed that respond
similar to given input it s a
method of representing
spatial heterogeneity of
watershed. Q SWAT defines
the HRU with respect to
their subbasin.

In this study area, there are 9

subbasin which is divided into .. HRU
unit.
