INTRODUCTION OF PROJECT
Current Scenario

1. Go Kart is simple four wheeled, small engine and single seated racing car
used mainly in United States. It either can be driven by 2 stroke-engine, 4
stroke-engine or electric motor.

2. Now days, racing go karts are considered as one of the most economic
activity where a large number of people can participate.

3. Thus, it is a good opportunity to do an innovation in this trend by applying

engineering and business knowledge learnt.

4. Therefore, Go Tech Go Kart would like introduce our own go kart that able
to compete in this market.
INTRODUCTION OF PROJECT
Problem Statement:

1. Nowadays, manufactured go kart in Malaysia is very expensive . (Around

RM 7000~10,000 per unit)
2. Commonly, self made go kart (DIY) is cheap but neglecting the feature of
easy and cheap maintenance as not all of its components are replaceable.
3. Both types go karts also are made without considering the environtment.

Objectives:

The objective of the project are as follow:

1. To build go kart that is affordable to most people.
2. To build go kart that is environmental-friendly, safe and robust.
3. To build go kart that is ease of maintenance for all components .
PROJECT EXPECTATION
In this project, our team aim to make a go kart that is
environmental-friendly either by using electric motor or
4 stroke engine.
The go kart would have rear wheels drive as the engine

would be positioned at the back.

Besides, it is important to make sure the total cost of

this go kart not exceed RM3500 for the affordable

feature.
This go kart is expected to be able to achieve a minimum

top speed of 40km/h and being able to provide comfort

and safety to the driver.
The maximum speed of this go kart would not beyond

70km/h.
PROJECT ACHIEVEMENT

In this project, our team achieve to make a go

kart that is environmental-friendly by using 4
stroke engine.
Besides, our team achieve to build a go-kart just
around RM3500.
This go kart is expected to be able to achieve a

minimum top speed of 40km/h and being able to

provide comfort and safety to the driver.
The maximum speed of this go kart would not
beyond 50km/h.

Analysis
No Analysis Expected Result

1 Engine Performance Analysis The purpose of this analysis is to choose the best engine or motor for the go-kart

(Top Speed, Maximum Torque based on cheaper cost, high acceleration and durability. It is expected the engine or

and Acceleration) motor to be able to move the go-kart on both flat surface and sloped surface of 5

degress. It is expected to able achieved speed above 40km/h.

2 Welding Joint Size Analysis The purpose of this analysis is to decide the minimum size of weld joint required so

this go-kart could withstand various stress especially on the joint the hold the weight

of 15 kg engine.

3 Tire Performance Analysis This analysis determines the tractive force and rolling resistance of difference of

tires size. It is expected the tire would able to have a good grip on contacted surface

and it would not slip due maximum torque produced by the engine.

4 Front Nose Material Analysis This analysis was done to determine the best material should be used for front nose

which being used to absorb the front impact of go-kart. This analysis is important to

ensure the safety of driver when accident happens.

5 Driven Axle Shaft Material This analysis is crucial to determine the best material that able to

Analysis withstand the maximum torque produced by the engine. It is expected

the shaft would not has any bending or torsional failure.

6 Static Analysis of Chassis This analysis is to decide the best design and material of go-karts frame or

chasiss that able to withstand the maximum stress due to static stresses. The

frame is expected would not has any bending or deflecting failure.

7 Pedal Design Analysis This analysis is to decide the suitable design of pedal so it able to control the

speed of engine fast and low through pedal, cable and return spring.

8 Frame Impact Analysis This analysis is to study the best material that can withstands the impact

applied to the frame itself excluding bumpers and front nose. It is expected that

the frame able to withstand the impact force when collision happen at maximum

velocity of this go-kart

9 Sprocket Chain Analysis The purpose of this analysis is to find the best material and size of the sprocket

chain that have the highest durability and easy for maintenance.
