logician, cryptanalyst and theoretical biologist. ALAN TURING He was higly influential in the development of theoretical computer science with the TOURING MACHINE. Turing in widely considered to be the father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence. After the Second World War, Turing designed the first ACE (Automatic Computer Engine). ALAN TURING In 1952 Turing was prosecuted for homosexual acts. He accepted chemical castration treatment. Turing died in 1954 from cyanide poisoning. An inquest determined his death as suicide.
