Catherine Watson Genna BS,
IBCLC
For 23 years, Catherine Watson Genna has helped
women breastfeed their babies, as an International
Board Certified lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

She has a particular interest for the anatomical,


neurological and genetic influences on sucking skills
of infants, she writes scientific papers and holds
international conferences (so far on 4 continents)
on these issues.

Her research includes the use of ultrasounds and


cervical auscultation to study sucking and sucking-
swallowing coordination in infants with
ankyloglossia, and, nevertheless, the biomechanical
aspects of the breastfeeding process .

She is an avid clinical photographer and author of


"Supporting Sucking Skills in Breastfeeding Infants"
and "Selecting and Using Breastfeeding Tools
volumes.
