 SOUTHWEST REGION
The Southwest Region is unique because it is the only
place in the United States where four states meet at a
single point, known as the Four Corners. It has great
Spanish influence.
The Southwest Region is made up of four large states.
One of them is the second biggest state in the nation.
It stretches west from the Gulf Coast of Texas to the
Colorado River in Arizona. Mexico borders the region on
the south.

LAND, RIVERS, AND CLIMATE
The land of the Southwest looks like a set of stairs.
The lowest step is the Coastal Plain, near the Gulf of
Mexico.
The Great Plains are the middle step. They are higher
than the Coastal Plains. Then the Rocky Mountains .

 There are deserts in the Southwest.
People have found ways to bring water from far away to
the desert, these ways are called irrigation. With the help
of irrigation, farmers can grow cotton, vegetables, and
other crops.
CLIMATE:
Parts of the Southwest are known for being hot and
sunny. But this doesnt mean that the whole region has
the same climate. On a day when oranges are growing in
the south of Texas, it may be snowing in the north of
Texas.
