ADAPTIVE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE MULTI-
USERS

Introduction
High rise development adapted to the local surrounding, requirements, culture,
heritage, climate & professional group, along with implementation of latest
technology in the building. The building must also be the iconic development.

Brief
Tall buildings throughout the world are becoming popular day by day. With the
advent of modern day construction technology and computers, the basic aim
has been to construct safer buildings keeping in view the overall economics of
the project. A high-rise building, apartment tower, office tower, apartment
block, or block of flats, is a tall building or structure used as a residential and
or office use. In some areas they may be referred to as "Multi Dwelling Unit"
They have the potential to decongest the urban sprawl on the ground level,
and increase the urban density, housing higher number of families in lesser
space.
ADAPTIVE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE MULTI-
USERS

Justification
The reason for choosing this topic is because, the population of India is
exponentially growing. Since horizontal growth leads to the rapid exhaustion of
natural resources and cultivable lands, vertical growth is preferred. In 21 st
century vertical development is more safe than ever. It is expected that in
2025, every tier-2 cities in India will have a skyscraper. So the vertical
development based on the locality is more sensible rather going for horizontal
development.

Objectives
To design an adaptive building for local requirements
Integrating the concept with Smart City concept announced by PM of India.
Design with current trend in building techniques and aesthetics
Energy efficient high rise building
Unique in style and Iconic in nature
Integrating building intelligence & Internet of things (IoT)
ADAPTIVE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE MULTI-
USERS

Urbanization is an unstoppable phenomenon that is the key to social and economic

development, assuming particular importance in developing countries, especially India. Keeping in
mind the limited land available to accommodate the growing inhabitants, the cities have to be
planned properly and better than before. So the only way is to go upwards. It is a significant step in
the right direction by harnessing technology so people can enjoy a good life-style which is
sustainable and environmentally friendly.
India has some of the fastest growing cities globally, and by 2020 is supposed to have 58
urban conglomerates. As a developing nation, the country is under tremendous pressure to
overcome the challenges of urbanization and ensure that its cities- whether historic or new are
built both sustainably and efficiently to facilitate future economic growth. In Mumbai for example,
development is severely constricted by lack of space, an issue which has led to large scale
redevelopment of older properties into high-rise buildings, as well as new skyscraper construction
to house ever increasing city inhabitants.
As cities in India get bigger to accommodate people, they are also getting taller. It may sound
unbelievable to accommodate all the people living in cities in India it may require building the
equivalent of one Mumbai, every year to keep up with the urban growth.
So skyscrapers are the need of the hour if the cities have to house their ever increasing growth of
urban population. The new government has come up with the concept of smart cities; the new
townships are being well planned so the common man can enjoy a decent lifestyle. Cities like
Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Kochi etc. are all growing upwards and taller.
