It is an open publishing platform and hosts about 60 million documents.

It was founded in 2007, headquartered in San Francisco.

Scribd's e-book subscription service is available on Android and i0S


smartphones and tablets as well as on personal computers.

Having more than 80 million user, Scribd is often termed as The Netflix of
books.

Scribd is a place to discover new books and authors. It was ranked as one of
the top 20 social media sites by ComScore. Currently it has 80 million monthly
readers from across 194 countries.

Scribd follows the subscription service model for generating
revenue.

In October 2013, Scribd officially launched its unlimited


subscription service fore-books.

Currently the company offers 3 books and 1 audio book each


month and unlimited access to magazine and news articles for
$8.99. Initially, it offers a free trial for a period of 30 days.
