MATERIALS
Lesson 3.2
Introduction

Integrating or inserting pictures in your

document is fun and improves the

impression of your document.


Kinds of Materials:
1. PICTURES these are electronic or
digital pictures or photographs that
you saved in any local storage device.
You can identify them by the extension
of their file name.
a) .JPG Joint Photographic Experts Group

this type of image file is suitable for


use when working with full color
photographic images. It can support
16.7 million colors.
Unfortunately it cannot support
transparency and does not work well
on lettering, line drawings or simple
graphics.
b.) .GIF Graphics
Interchange Format
This type of image file is capable of
displaying transparencies and
displaying simple animation.
However, it can only support 256
colors. It is much better for logos,
drawings, small text, black and white
images and low-resolution files.
c. .PNG Portable Network
Graphics
It was developed for the purpose of
transporting images on the internet at
a faster rate.
It is good with transparencies and
opacity of the image but does not
support animation
It can display about 16 million colors.
2. CLIP ART

This is generally a .gif file


These are Line art drawings or images
used as generic representation of ideas
and objects.
3. SHAPES

These are printable objects or


materials that you can integrate in
your document that allow you to have
some tools to use for composing and
representing ideas or messages.
4. Smart Art

These are predesigned sets of different


shapes group together to form ideas
that are organizational or structural in
nature.
5. CHART

It allows you to represent data


characteristics and trends.
It is used to correlate and present data
in a graphical manner. 65
