Need of the Project :The state, with its rich history, architecture and picturesque locations has always
attracted filmmakers from all over the world.
Hindi film classics like "Mughal-e-Azam" were shot in Deeg Palace, Bharatpur, and in
the famous Sheeshmahal of Amber Palace. Endless scenes of sand dunes, of chillies
being dried in the sun and village locations form the settings in many films.
Hollywood has not missed the exotic locations of Rajasthan either. The James Bond
thriller "Octopussy" was shot in Udaipur, apart from films like "Far Pavilions", "Heat
and Dust" and "Holy Smoke" that were shot in different locations of the desert state.
However, a city based film distributor who prefers not to be named said the claims
of the state government would be tested in the coming days as director-producer
Vidhu Vinod Chopra and "Lagan" director Ashutosh Gowarikar would be in the state
rolling their cameras for their new projects "Yagna" and "Jodha Akabar" respectively.
