NUTRIENT CYCLE

Nutrient
are chemical elements that all
plants and animals require for
growth. On the earth, there is a
constant and natural cycle how
these elements are incorporated
when an organism grows, and
degraded if an organism dies.

Nutrient Cycle
describes how nutrients move from
the physical environment into living
organisms, and subsequently are
recycled back to the physical
environment.

The cycle of nutrient is

an important process in
the ecosystem.

Energy cannot be recycled.

Once energy is used, it is lost
into the ecosystem.
The nutrients in an
ecosystem can be used over
and over again. They are
recycled beginning from the
nonliving environment: air,

Classification of nutrients
1. Macronutrients- are those that
required by the organisms in large
quantities. example; carbon,
hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen,
2. Micronutrients- are needed by
organisms in smaller quantities.
Example: copper,zinc,iron
