Communication is the process of exchanging information.
Information is conveyed as words, tone of voice, and body
language.
Barriers to Communication - forms or factors which prevent
communication from taking place.

Communication is the process


of sharing our ideas,
thoughts, and feelings with
other people and having
those ideas, thoughts, and
feelings
understood by the people we
are talking with. When we
communicate we speak,
listen, and SPEAK

Physical Barriers
Physical barriers concerns with ranges of hindrance or
obstruction that might occur anywhere along the channel/line of
communication beginning from the sender to the receiver to
block off of the actual intention of the message.
Example:
1. physical object,
2. noise from a passing traffic,
3. disruptions such as two people talking as the same time,
4. distance from which the call is made from,
5. mechanical or technical faults,

Mental and Emotional


Barriers
Mental and Emotional Barriers
The mental, emotional, psychological state of the learner may also
affect the way the message is conveyed or interpreted. These
situations may result from:
1. emotional stress
2. anger
3. depression or sadness
4. too much information or too little or inaccuracy of information
5. a distorted and subjective focus in your message
6. insecurity or lack of confidence
7. difficult personalities you may encounter

Cultural Barriers
Cultural Noise: people sometimes make stereotypical assumptions
about others based on their cultural background.
The cross cultural competence could be improved through the
following methods:
1. cultural knowledge training: We should be taken a basic cross
culture training which will make over aware of the cross culture in
the other place.
2. Language Training : Language training should be given for those
who have more chances of coming into contact with foreigners
3. Norms & Roles and values: Before move some place we should
be study about the place and their Norms & Roles Values of
people.

Language Barriers
In language Barriers some words can have more than one
meaning given the specific
context in which it is being used. Some learners language for
learning may be his/her
own language or even be a second language of learning.ple
Example: In kannada language dog may be called nai and in hindi
nai may be called Barber.

Physiological Barriers
Physiological Barriers concerns with body related problems. Which
may effect on communication process.
