Welcome to Honors US History. I am excited to be your teacher for


this required class. It is my goal to get you thinking about the series
of events that have helped to shape American culture, politics,
economy, and environment from the colonization to present day. We
will focus on major historical themes by analyzing information and
using critical thinking
The Social Studies Honors Program is designed to
challenge students to achieve higher level thinking by
providing students with a strong emphasis on
interdisciplinary connections, critical analysis and
application, collaborative thinking, and student
reflection on topics in a changing world. Students will
be encouraged to take responsibility for their own
learning in preparation for college, career, and civic life.
Emphasis will be placed on student learning and demonstrating certain
skill & concepts such as:
- Analyzing & drawing inferences from primary and secondary sources
- Identifying & analyzing conflicting sources
- Creating supporting arguments for a well- developed theory
- Determine historical relationships and continuing themes
