ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
It is my foremost duty to express my
Deep regards and gartitude to my
Physics teacher MRS.VIVAH GERA
Under whose guidance and supervision
I am able to undertake this project.
It is her who has been my primary source
of inspiration and who motivated , guided
and encouraged me at different stages to
make this project.
I am also thankful for the help rendered
By the lab assistant MR.VIJAY RANA who made
Apparatus needed for the experiments , else it
Would have been a difficult task to perform this project
successfully

CERTIFICATE
This is to certify that this project has been
made by SHUBHAM BAGHEL of class X11-A
on the topic HALF-WAVE (AC TO DC) RECTIFIER
under the supervision and guidance of our Physics teacher
MRS.VIVAH GERA in PHYSICS lab, D.A.V. Public School , JasolaVihar
and have been completed it successfully.

AIM
To construct a Half-wave rectifier
and show that AC(Alternating
current)
is rectified into a DC(Direct
current).

220 v

Take the transformer and attach it to one end of the circuit

board . Attach the
plug with the wire of desired length and
connect it to the transformer (220to 6v) AC In. Now , take a
diode and connect it to the positive end of a joined
capacitor(16v,1000uf), the output of transformer should be
connected to negative end of capacitor and other to diode . Now
connect the desired length of wire with capacitor keeping along
the LED attach to the capacitor with both ends. Attach wire from
the capacitor to the output device of LED.

WORKING

When the AC is supplied to the transformer ,it step down the 200v
main supply
to 6v . It has the capability of delivering 700 m A. The 6 volts AC is
appearing
across the secondary is the RMS value . The diode labelled as D is
arranged in series to conduct current during each half cycle . During
the positive half cycle
of the supply diode D conducts current in forward bias and the
current flows as shown below.

POSITIVE HALF CYCLE

In positive half
cycle, the circuit is
connected in
forward biasing
with the help of
diode which

Negative
half
cycle
In negative half cycle when diode is connected in reverse biasing
the
Output current is not obtained and hence half cycle does not
complete...

In subsequent Half cycles of the AC Current the above process are

repeated.
In positive half cycle it is clear that the current flows through the
capacitor is
filtered and made smooth , which filters 99% of the ac current
.Capacitor nearly
filters all AC components from supply and
resistance is adjusted for the required output . As it is a simple
circuit ,a capacitor and one diode are used .The output Direct current
and voltage light up the LED and other sources connected with it.

The output of circuit is in D.C. source with half of wave of
