INTRODUCTION

Today, more than ever, making architecture is an

interdisciplinary adventure without clear boundaries. Space,
proportion, material, color, surface: architects share with artists a
whole range of criteria in their work, as well as some central
elements of theory, planning and delivery.
This lack of art in contributed to the visual poverty and
impersonality experienced in most 20th century cities around the
world. The modernist trend helped create visual deficiencies of
the environment in which we live.
Social centers provide a place to socialize while a cultural centre
is an organization, building or complex that promotes culture and
arts. So the aim is to make a center where both things can
happen.

The socio-cultural center will be a multi-disciplinary center, the

Centre programs through different forms and through different
media will deal with important works of contemporary art and
science, mass and high culture, but also work with national and
domestic heritage.
Museums, crafts, exhibition halls will promote the culture and at
the same time conference halls, auditoriums, music avenue, art
galleries will help people in increasing their social network.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES-

To promote understanding and amity between the different

communities of the world by undertaking or promoting the study of
their past and present cultures, by exchanging knowledge thereof, and
by providing such others facilities as would lead to their universal
application.

To undertake, organize and facilitate study courses, conferences,

seminars, lectures and research in matters relating to different cultural
patterns of the world.

To undertake, facilitate and provide for the publication of newsletters,

research papers, and books and of a journal for the exposition of
cultural patterns and values prevailing in different parts of the world.

To establish and maintain libraries and information services to facilitate

study of world cultures.

To cooperate with approved institutions and interested bodies for the

purpose of helping the cause of understanding among peoples of
different cultures.

To develop and promote the rich diversity and uniqueness of various

arts of the zone and upgrade and enrich consciousness to the people
about their cultural heritage.

PROJECT BRIEF

New Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is planning to construct a

new cultural centre, similar to India Habitat Centre (IHC) and India
International Centre (IIC), in Sector 11 of Dwarka. It will come up near IGI
airport .

Meanwhile, Mr. Naidu announced a range of projects for Dwarka sub-city.

A socio-cultural centre, Sanskrit Kendra, based on the India Habitat
Centre, is also in the works, said the Minister. According to DDA, there is a
provision of a library, a residential block and a convention centre block,
which will have an auditorium, conference halls, exhibition space etc. We
hope special features like the spa, aerobic hall, audio-visual library will
appeal to people, said Dhar. Space will be allocated for open air theatres,
water bodies, lawns etc. Adequate parking space will be provided at the
centre.
