DEFINITION Motivation can be defined as an internal
condition initiated by drives, needs, or desires
and producing a goal behaviour. It gives the reasons for peoples actions, desires, and needs. Motivation can also be defined as ones direction to behavior, or what causes a person to want to repeat a behavior and viceversa.
Motivation results from the interaction of both
conscious and unconscious factors such as the: Intensity of desire or need. Incentive or reward value of the goal. Expectations of the individual and of his or her peers. For example: A student that spends extra time studying for a test because he or she wants a better grade in the class.
