NOT JUST FOR WOMEN BUT LED BY WOMEN

BACKGROUND

The mentorship program is a way to grow our diverse workforce and to keep

them engaged and motivated at CAE by providing them with an environment in


which they can thrive
Not a hierarchical mentorship program
Open to all employees regardless of seniority
Mentorship is not from same organization
Multifaceted program (technical, financial, strategic and hierarchical)

DEFINITION OF THE PROGRAM

12-Step Mentorship program aimed towards personal growth/development for the

mentee via a short-term realistic goal achievable during the program


Mentor: a wise and trusted counselor or teacher or coach
Mentee: A person who is guided by a mentor (Not Directed)

Mentor from other function/ or Department function


Optionally, Mentee has the option of sharing progress and goals with their manager Recommended-

The mentee is accountable for driving and executing the necessary steps towards achieving their goal

BIG PICTURE
Meet a mentor and work on a specific goal custom made for you and for

which you build a plan


Looking at who you are (your soft skills) and what you need to tweak
Looking at what you know (hard skills, knowledge) and what you need to learn
Looking at who you know (network) and with whom you need to establish a conversation
Looking at what might be in your way (roadblocks) and how you can clear them

You then execute towards your goal and track your progress
You evaluate the progress at the end of the Program
You decide whether you want to work with same mentor/new mentor on new

goal

The mentee is accountable for driving and executing the necessary steps towards achieving their goal

SOME EXAMPLES OF OBJECTIVES


Delivering presentation on CAE products and services at the end of mentorship program
Being sufficiently at ease in public to deliver presentations
Increase Buzz about myself across departments (Network and Knowledge)
Becoming financially savvy at CAE (Business Knowledge)
Establish a relationship with my mentor so that I can be coached during my day-to-day (Personal Growth)
Get ready for Next Step in my career by being able to lead a meeting
How to influence decisions


You will, of course, set a goal of your own

CAN YOU GIVE AN EXAMPLE?

If I have a goal of delivering a presentation about CAE products because I am trying to see where I would best fit at CAE and I am not
very familiar with everything
By looking at my skills, I might need to work on public speaking
By looking at my knowledge, I might need to read up on CAE promotional material and read the annual plan or take some
courses on CAEs products and services or technologies
By looking at my network, I might need to get in touch with someone from healthcare, from D&S, from finance, from Marketing
By looking at my road blocks, I might be too busy, not have access to the appropriate materials, the people I want to talk to might
not be available, I might lack PowerPoint know-how, etc .

The goal is achievable within the year long program. The achievement could lead to a more specific goal.
If it takes 100 steps to achieve your dream, what would be step 1?

TIME TABLE AT CAE

Mentorship meetings should not be called from the 20th to the end of the month

of every quarter (June, September, December as well as March)


Preferably, mentorship meetings should be avoided in December as well
Meetings should not take place during months with excessive workload
This should be part of the mentor/mentee conversation

LONG TERM VISION

Work with a team of mentors until ultimate objective is reached


Pool of mentors being established and growing (actively recruiting)
Progress will be tracked in a tool, WPN is piloting a STEM tool)

Get to participate in real-life scenarios (On the Job activities)


Networking opportunities will be generated
If lunch and learn opportunities are common to some, will be channeled back to

the network and to HR to fill the gap


Formula is being shown to leaders to see if adjustments should be made
In Parallel of pilot run.
