to use the concrete before it hardens

Grader
Agrader, also commonly referred to as aroad grader,
ablade, amaintainer, or amotor grader, is a
construction machinewith a long blade used to create
a flat surface during thegradingprocess.
Capacities range from a blade width of 2.50 to 7.30
m and engines from 93373kw(125500hp).
Certain graders can operate multiple attachments, or
be used for separate tasks like underground mining.

A drilling machine for quarry or opencast blasting,
equipped with tracks and operated by independent air
motors.

Chip Spreader
A chip spreader lays down the
aggregate on top of a
bituminous binder which is then
rolled by a compactor.

Compactors
Vibratory roller compactor is used to compact
soil, gravel, concrete, or asphalt in the construction of
roads and foundations.
It is widely used to compress the surface being rolled
to ensure a smooth, even surface.
Vibratory rollers are widely used for compacting
asphalt pavements because they achieve the required
densities faster.

Pneumatic Tired Roller

Pneumatic tire compactors are used on small to
medium size compaction jobs, primarily on bladed,
granular base materials.
Pneumatics are not suited for high production, thick
lift embankment compaction projects.
Another advantage is that pneumatic rollers can be
used on both soil and asphalt.

Dump truck and Compactor

The typical dump truck is equipped with a
hydraulically operated open box bed hinged at the
rear.
Its main function is to dump aggregate/ballast to the
site.

Compactor is used to compact the aggregate/ballast

layer under the railway line, this is required to provide
stability to the track.

Material Vehicles
In rail construction most of transportation of materials in
done on tracks using material vehicles.
Function:
Transport of sleepers and
rails to and from the worksite.

Ballast Tamping Machine

A tamping machine or ballast tamper is a machine
used to pack the track ballast under railway tracks
to make the tracks more durable.
Functions
1. Twist corrections
2. Track settlemen
3. Packing of ballast under sleepers

Ballast Tamping Machine

A tamping cycle comprises three operations:
1. Penetration The arms are pushed down vertically
into the ballast either side of a sleeper.
2. Squeezing The arms squeeze the ballast under the
sleeper, packing it together.
3. Moving The arms are lifted and the machine is
moved to the next sleeper to repeat the cycle.

Track Stabilizing Unit

The stabilizing unit is a well-proven design developed in
1975 with regular use on various railroads worldwide
since 1978.
This machine is designed to apply controlled, accurate
stabilizing forces into the track structure at continuous
speeds of up to 3/4 mph.
Stabilization extends the life of corrected track.

Ballast Bed Cleaning Machine

A ballast regulator/ballast bed cleaning machine is a
piece of rail equipment used to shape and distribute the
gravel track ballast that supports the ties in rail tracks.
They are often used in conjunction with ballast tampers.

Track Aligner
It is a small portable unit, which can be used as a
replacement of Ballast Temping Machine for smaller
works.
Up to 240 sleepers can be tamped by the hour with this
machine.
The unit can be controlled either manually or
automatically.

Track Layer Machine

Track laying operations require high expenditure for
personnel and machines.
Laying of tracks is done using the continuous-action.
Accuracy and high working speed are the outstanding
features of this machine
It performs both track renewal and track laying
functions.

Dozers
The term dozer is often used as bulldozers that
means heavy equipment
A dozer is a crawler equipped with a substantial metal
plate known as blade.
It is used to push the sand or large quantities of the
soil to the other place.

1. Straight Blade - It is short and have
no lateral curve and no side wings
and can be used for fine grading.
2. Universal Blades - It is tall and
curved and has large side wings to
carry more material.

Rippers
Ripper is a long claw device on the back of the bulldozer
The ripper can be single or in a group.
They are replaceable.

Excavators

Excavators are heavy construction equipment.

They are also called as diggers.
Mechanical excavators can rotate up to 360 degrees.
The working of hydraulic excavators is done by
hydraulic fluid , hydraulic cylinders and
hydraulic motors.

Types
Based on mounting type,they are classified as:

Based on types of Bucket or digging motion they are

Scrapers
Used for moving earth over short distances (up to about
two miles) on relatively smooth areas.
It consists of a wagon with a gate having a bladed bottom.
The blade scrapes up earth as the wagon pushes forward
and forces the excavated material into the wagon.
When the wagon is filled, the gate is closed, and the
material is carried to the place of disposal. The scraper is
the dominant tool in highway and bridge construction.

Executing short to long loaded hauls from load to

Traveling at high speed along well-developed haul
roads

Beam Launcher
Pre-cast concrete beam girders ('I', 'T', 'M' beams, etc)
are most widely used for short span bridges.
For bridges crossing over water, a Beam Launcher is
commonly used to lift the pre-cast beams in place.
The pre-cast beams are delivered with a Beam Trolley
on top of the completed deck to the rear of the Beam
Launcher, and subsequently picked up by the
Launcher for placing into the final position.
