What is Parkinson??
It is describe cell (neurons) in the
part of brain (substantia niagra) are
growing worse that cause
neurotransmitter, named dopamine a
chemical that carries signals from
brain to the target cell become worse
too.
It attacks the central nervous system
of human body

Symptoms of Parkinson
Motor Symptoms
Slow movement
Rigidity
Tremor
Postural Instability
Non-Motor Symptoms
Constipation
Low mood
Fatigue
Memory problems

Treatment
Conventional treatment of Parkinson
usually related to the usage of
medication that aimed at increasing
the dopamine activity and other
physiotherapy to treat the patient
However, there is some studies
shows throughout food Parkinson
may be treated too

Nutrients role in Parkinson

Vitamin B12, B6 and zinc
- An amino acid called Homocysteine found
in Parkinson patient is believed to be
toxic if the amount is elevated
- Some research found that reducing
Homocysteine is a good idea
- High consumption of vitamin B12, B6 and
zinc is recommended
- Vitamin B12,B6 & zinc are rich in
seafood (salmon & oyster)

Omega-3 fats
- Neuron inflammation occurs in the brain
of Parkinson people
- This omega-3 fats are a good antiinflammatory to control the neurological
damage inside the brain
- Omega-3 fats can be found in salmon,
sardine, walnuts

Vitamin D
- A study discovered that we actually
have these vitamin receptor inside the
brain which boost the growth of
hormone for neuron inside the brain.
Which typically is good
- Sunlight is the main sources of vitamin
D

Magnesium
- Such minerals act as natural relaxant
- Deficiency in this magnesium may cause
tremors, muscle weakness, constipation
which is similar to Parkinsons symptom
- It is recommended to eat more leafy
greens as this kind of vegetables have
high content of magnesium eg: spinach

OSTEOPOROSIS
WHAT IS OSTEOPOROSIS?
Osteoporosis means porous or weak
bones.
Bone is surprisingly dynamic.
It is constantly remolded but in
osteoporosis, more bones is lost than
made.
The greater the bone mass, the less
likely a bone to break.

RISK FACTOR OF
OSTEOPOROSIS
Menopause is the
single
most
important risk factor
for osteoporosis.
Bone density drops
off
sharply
at
menopause because
of a decrease in the
hormone estrogen,
which
prevents
reabsorption
of
bone.

Other risk factors include:

i.

a total hysterectomy (with removal of the ovaries)

or menopause before age 45

ii. of menstruation (e.g. due to an eating disorder

or excessive exercise)
iii. not enough calcium and vitamin D in the diet
iv. not enough physical activity
v. a thin, small build
vi. smoking
vii. alcohol (more than four drinks a day)
viii.family history of osteoporosis or fractures

ix. chemotherapy (especially for breast cancer), resulting in ovarian failure

SYMPTOMS
Symptoms
Osteoporosis
is
not
painful unless you have
fractures.
Fractures resulting from
osteoporosis
can
gradually cause the spine
to collapse.
This can result in height
loss,
pain
and
a
deformed back.

FRACTURES BONES

cium and Vitamin D: Osteopor

Calcium is vital in construction of bone
as it plays as the main sources of
bone structure
Vitamin D do helps the absorption of
calcium to bone
To control the disease, elder should
take more of these nutrient in their
daily meal
Recommended intake of calcium
should be 1000-1200 mg and vitamin
D 15-20 micrograms

Cataract
CATARAC
s
TS

What is cataracts??
Clouding of the lens in the eye that
affects vision.
A cataract can occur in either or both
eyes.
The lens is a clear part of the eye
that helps to focus light, or an image,
on the retina.
The image will blurred if the lens is
cloudy from a cataract.

What causes the

cataracts??
The lens lies behind the iris and the
pupil.
The lens is made of mostly water
and protein.
As age increase, some of the protein
may clump together and start to
cloud a small area of the lens.
The cataract may grow larger and
cloud more of the lens.

What is the symptoms of

cataract??
Vision that is cloudy, blurry, foggy, or filmy
Progressive nearsightedness in older people often
called "second sight" because they may no longer
need reading glasses.
Changes in the way you see color because the
discolored lens acts as a filter.
Problems driving at night such as glare from
oncoming headlights.
Problems with glare during the day.
Double vision (like a superimposed image).
Sudden changes in glasses prescription.

How to avoid??
Have regular eye examinations
Choose a healthy diet that includes
plenty of fruits and vegetables
Maintain a healthy weight.
Manage other health problems.
Quit smoking.
Reduce alcohol use.
Wear sunglasses.

Vitamin C & E: Cataract

Cataracts specified causes are not known but
high possibilities is due to oxidative stress that
damage the enzyme and protein in the eye lens.
This eye lens will then form a layer of protein
that clouds the vision of human
Vitamin C & E that is known to be a great
antioxidant may control the level of this
oxidative stress to minimum level.
Eventually, it will slow down or protect the lens
from forming the cataract layer
