Pre-requisite Knowledge
General Objective:
Students will be able to gain knowledge about the source of noise
pollution causes and effects of noise pollution
Specific Objectives:
Students will be able to
1. List any five causes / sources of noise pollution (S)
2. Assess the any five effects of noise pollution (S, & T)
3. Implement any five control measures of noise pollution (S, E & T)
4. Construct a mind map related to noise pollution
DEFINITION
Any Unwanted, Unpleasant Sound that causes discomfort
Unit of Noise - Decibel (Db)
- It is actually a number representing the relative loudness of two
different sounds.
Decibel is a ratio expressed as the logarithmic scale relative to
a reference sound pressure level.
For adults, normal hearing and degree of hearing loss fall into the
following categories
0 dB - 20 dB .......normal hearing
20 dB - 40 dB .....mild hearing loss
40 dB - 55 dB .....moderate hearing loss (living room)
55 dB - 70 dB .....moderately severe hearing loss
70 dB - 90 dB ..... severe hearing loss
>90 dB.................profound hearing loss
