in the Life of an
Administrator

Ice Breaker

As

aspiring administrators, what are some duties you

believe this job requires?

What

are the challenges? (Personal and/or

Professional)

Why would you need the principal of balance?

Is the ability to identify our various roles and to spend appropriate

amounts of time in, and focus on, all of the important roles and
dimensions of our lives. Success in one area of life cannot compensate
for neglect or failure in other areas of our life.

Quote by Rumer Godden Everyone is a house with four rooms:

physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Unless we go into every
room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete
person.

Knowledgeable of your role/self

As an aspiring administrator, you will wear several hats. You

should participate in trainings; so that, you are an example of
continuous growth in your building. Seek wise counsel and
update your personal educational library.

In an effort to utilize our teachers for staff development, we will begin peer review for new teachers next
week. During your planning period on Monday, please visit the teachers class listed on the back.
While in your observations, please take note of the following:
1) How could you tell the teacher prepared a thorough lesson plan that has several transition
activities? Are lesson plans current and posted?
2)

Are all materials and equipment in place when the students enter the classroom? Bellringer?

3)

Are you able to see indicators that show consistency? __________ Has a process been
established where students are immediately on task when they arrive in class?

4)

Describe what is taking place during the instructional process that shows true engagement. What is
taking place with the student, and teacher/facilitator?

5)

Describe the climate of the classroom. (Management) Are class rules and consequences posted
and consistently enforced?

6)

Was technology incorporated as a resource? How did the student and teacher incorporate
