What have you learnt about technologies from the

process of constructing this product?

From doing this preliminary task, I have learnt how to use online
PowerPoint presentations such as Prezi and Emaze and then using
online embedding software such as Slideshare and Scribd to
embed the finish product onto blogger rather than linking them to
blogger. The advantage of using online software's means your
work can never get lost because it is online.

I learnt how to use blogger.com which is another online software

where you can create blogs. Using blogger.com meant that I could
manage my time and reflect because we were told to create a
diary entry where we wrote about what we learnt that lesson and
what we struggled with which highlighted key areas which we
needed to revise at home. I also learnt how to change the time
and date on blogger.com because all the posts I have created on
blogger.com need to be in a specific chronological order and so if I
was needed to update or add a blog in I can change the date and
time of the blog posts to make them fit the certain order needed.

Another software I learnt how to use what Adobe Photoshop, I learnt

skills that allowed me to change the mise en scene of the text and
images and create meaning into my magazine which I know would
appeal to my target audience. The types of skills that I learnt while
using Adobe Photoshop are: understanding how layers work and if I
wanted to add a new layer, I have to click on the first layer which is
the background; inserting images and making them fit correctly into a
frame and resizing them without stretching them because you lose
marks if your image is stretched; cropping backgrounds so I could
specifically have the main focus of the picture; deleting objects so I
could get rid of things that were of no use to appealing to my target
audience and using the select and inverse tool which allowed me to
import fonts from a website called dafont.com and change the colour
of the font and add stroke if I wanted to. I also learnt how to import
pictures from the internet such as barcodes and put them on the front
cover of the magazine which comply with the codes and conventions
of a typical magazine.

We also had to take pictures using still cameras such as PANG 25

and then use a USB lead to import them over to computer where I
then added them into online presentations such as Emaze and
onto my front cover or contents page. Even though taking pictures
is a simple process, I learnt that we had to take the pictures
portrait and not landscape for them to be compatible with creating
a magazine on Adobe Photoshop.

I also used a Epson perfection scanner which allowed me to scan

my drawn drafts and papers so they could be transferred onto the
computer. At first I had assistance from a teacher as I had never
scanned documents before but since then I have scanned
documents on my own. From this I learnt that you dont need to
take photos of documents to be able to view it on the computer,
you can get the actual document on your computer screen. It also
sounds like it is going to be a long process, but it only takes a few
minutes.
