Direct Estimation
Direct estimation can be done by asking
directly to the factory, agent, or distributor
whose selling the equipment.
This method will give a highest precision on
equipment price but take too much time.

- Other factor (pressure factor,
material factor, and design factor)

Size Factoring Exponents
To predict the cost of one size of equipment to
another size by the relationship

- Commonly size exponent known on the chart and

the number would be various depends on the
equipment itself.
- When the chart do not include this number then
usually sixth-tenth or 0,6 used for the size exponent.

Estimation Chart :
Installation Factor
To know the total cost to purchase the equipment,
have it shipped, received, installed, and ready to
run for single equipment only.
Example:
Rotary dryer would include
- freight (muatan), crane service, foundation and support
- all labor, electrical, switch gear and control
- gas or oil piping connections
- mounting (rollers, bolts, motor coupling, chain drives,
etc)
- inlet and outlet chutes and hoods, painting
- safety guard, and so on

Estimation Chart :
Module Factor
Similar to installation factor but this factor include the
purchase and installation cost of all the supporting
equipment and connection.
Example:
Rotary Dryer would include
- Previous equipment on installation factor
- feed and discharge conveyor
- the dust collection equipment
- fan, ducting, and etc to make entire rotary dryer section of the
plant operational

Usually module factore used when build a new plant but

installation factor used when an equipment need a
replacement.

Example
1. Tentukan harga terpasang sebuah HE
shell and tube jenis fixed head dengan
luas perpindahan panas 300 m2 dan
bekerja pada 15 atm. Material HE
tersebut adalah SS 347.
2. Centrifugal pump mampu mengalirkan
75 gpm. Head maksimum pompa
tersebut sampai dengan 100 ft. pompa
terbuat dari nickel agar tahan karat.
Pompa ini berupa one stage pump,
dengan kecepatan motor 1750 rpm dan
arah aliran Vertical Suction Charge (VSC).
