Working Definition
Learning outcomes are statements of
what a student should know,
understand and/or be able to
demonstrate after completion of a
process of learning
The learning activity could be, for example, a
lecture, a module or an entire programme.
Learning outcomes must not simply be a wish
list of what a student is capable of doing on
completion of the learning activity.
Learning outcomes must be simply and clearly
described.
Learning outcomes must be capable of being
validly assessed.

Elements of PLCs
The professional learning community is an
ongoing process in which educators work
collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective
inquiry and action research to achieve better
results for the students they serve.
PLCs operate under the assumption that the
key to improved learning for students is
continuous, job-embedded learning for
educators.
