The beginning, part I
• What is EVE besides being ‘just’ a game?
• EVE is an MMORPG (well duh!...)
• MMORPG means that there are other participants
in the game besides yourself
• The participants are people!
• A known fact is that people constitute a very
large portion of EVE’s game play
How to look at EVE
• From a relatively simple set of rules comes a
game with practically endless possibilities.

• Same goes with EVE

• What element can be said to create the “endless”

part of the possibilities?
People
• People playing EVE are the actual content
• All major game-systems in EVE are manned by players

– Production
– Raw material acquisitions
– Access to the raw materials
– And more…

• And what is it called when we have people

maintaining and living in such a structured
framework?
Society
• EVE in a different light as a society

• It becomes possible to:

– look at the real world and the societies that have
existed, or do exist,
– look at real world theories and writings

• Powerful tools available to evolve EVE further

Changing society
• We wish to initiate a change
• Beneficial for the society
• Necessary for the society

• A chance to directly affect the society and the

environment they live in

• EVE’s population IS a society

Democratic elections
• Candidacy
– If you have an access to EVE (an account) you can run
for candidacy in the Council of Stellar Management
– You will run as a person for the Council of Stellar
Management

• Voting for representatives

– If you have an account you can cast one vote for one
candidate
– Proxy option available
– Anonymous voting
– Many votes per person, one vote per account
