Introduction
What is language?
Language can be defined as methods of communication either
spoken or written consisting of the use of words in conventional
ways.
We use language on a daily basis. We use it to communicate with
other people, we use it as a way for us to convey important
informations and we also use it to express feelings.
Language does not pertain to only words

Today we will talk about how language can be used for

development, influence, and integration

Development is subjective.
We do not see development as only
Development

an increase of profit or earnings of a country.

Development can be seen as a socio cultural, economic and
technological transformation.
Language, plays an important key role in these transformation.
We see instances where language is used for development of a
country

Influence
Language is one of the most powerful tool for influence.
Language have always helped in influencing other people.
Almost everyday we see either in television or every other
social media where language is used to persuade other
people.
This is almost always seen in politics where we have
leaders use high variety language to influence the public.

Integration

Language also play a key role in unity and integration.

In a multiculutural and multi language country it is important to
have united language to unify a country
With a universal language, people from various races can
communicate with each other hence unity can be achieved.
However even with a uniform language, we still do not forget
about the importance of other languages
An example can be taken from the situation in Nigeria
Nigeria like most African countries is a multi lingual country.
However there come a problem where the languages compete with each
other.

Hence they have adopted English as a unifying language.

Conclusion
Language is a powerful tool that we use everyday.
We may or may not realise it but language is considered to
be the most important aspect in our lives.
Language should not be taken lightly.
