Process of selecting Child

Reps
Seek members from accredited childrens
clubs, groups, and other organizations
recognized by the Barangay Council
Each organization is allowed 2 reps with 1 vote
each
Convene barangay representatives in the
municipality to elect municipal child rep.
Municipal reps convene to select Provincial
Reps
**These guidelines are not yet being strictly
implemented.

Criteria
10 15 y/o
Active participant of the community
Active member of an accredited organization in
the barangay, school, or faith-based group
Able to articulate childrens issues and concerns
One year residency in the barangay
Good leadership skills
Balanced views on gender, religion, and
ethnicity, and disabilities

Process of election in Barangay

Level
Set time of election and announce early to
give ample time before the election
Purpose of election and the purpose of the
BCPC, explain the roles of the Child reps in
articulating children concerns.
Enumerate criteria for selecting the child
reps
Ask child reps how they want to choose the
child reps who will facilitate the process
Give time to get to know each other

If they come up with nominee, each

nominees must introduce him or herself.
Adults must be out of the room to prevent
them from interfering or influencing the
election
What ever process the children choose,
make sure it is open, honest, transparent,
and clean.

Election process at city/

municipal and provincial levels

Municipal/City and provincial child reps will

be chosen from the barangay child reps
through a way they choose.
