soil release polymer

Sorez HS 205 soil release polymer

Overview
Making hard surfaces easy to clean and to maintain is an important
consumer requirement.
Sorez HS 205 polymer works by forming a barrier between common hard
surfaces and foulants.
The polymer reduces the tendency of soil to adhere to various ceramic, metal
and plastic surfaces, making next-time cleaning easier.
Formulators of hard surface cleaners may use the polymer in formulations to
support product label claims such as Easy cleaning, and Surfaces stay
cleaner longer.

Efficacy tests
Sorez HS 205 polymer helps hard surfaces stay cleaner, even after
repeated soil and rinsing phases. The end result is easy next-time
cleaning for consumers.
Creating demonstration formulations for various application areas (including
bathroom, toilet bowl, kitchen and glass), and applying various soil to these
hard surfaces, Ashland demonstrated easy cleaning after initial and repeated
rinsing, compared to a control.

Bathroom Cleaner Test Method
Treatment:
Apply 3.4 ml from prototype bathroom cleaner formulations into each area of
the tile and wipe.
Rinse under running tap water 6 times then let dry.
Soil Application:
Apply 0.13 ml soap scum onto the each area of the bathroom tile.
Let dry at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
Rinse the tile under running tap water.

Summary
Easy next-time cleaning
Polymeric barrier formed between hard surfaces and various soils simplifies
next-time cleaning.
Clear films formed on surfaces reduce the tendency of soils to adhere.

Including Sorez HS 205 polymer in formulations between 0.5% and 1.5%

(formulation dependent) offers consumers the ability to clean surfaces in
less time, with less effort, compared to formulations without polymer.

Sorez HS 205 polymer may be used in a range of hard surface cleaning

formulations to support novel label claims.

Efficacy tests show significantly better next-time cleaning performance than

a control polymer using various prototype and commercial formulations.
