Review and working closely in maintaining FOL performance
delivery of reporting and metric (Downtime, MTBA)

Lead team, manage pool of technicians, week/monthly review,


reporting and analysis

Resourcing engineers and technicians on utilizing variety of tools

database such as Machine Information System TI (MISTI),


Computerized Machine Management System (CMMS), Material
Validation System (MTVS)

Ensuring predictive & preventive maintenance at appropriate level


to avoid sudden breakdown or operational needs.

Provide full planning and timeline of project


Analysis of problems, study of related solution, trial run, execution

and fan out process, finalised product monitoring at specific log


point.

MY ROLE ASSIGNED TASK/JOB SCOPE

Main project - ISP 3100V machine qualification

Qualify new machine to be introduced in production line


Fully automated inspection on post-wire bond QFN units and perform
wipeout process
Understand the full functionality of the machine and process
Understand the mechanical handling the machine
Carry out test/trial run, perform analysis, review and reporting from
the results obtained

Side task

Perform audit on EFO wand condition


Audit on occurrence frequency of machine downtime
Assist engineers in solving project problem
Attend meetings, assembly quality review, understanding
current condition/situation of assembly department

MAIN PROJECT ISP 3100V QUALIFICATION

Objective:

To comply with customer requirement complaint


To accurately inspect and identify reject units
To identify stray wire/ foreign material left on leadframe or units
Improvement/corrective action transformation from manual
inspection to automated machine inspection

Example of qualification steps:

Inspection test run and wipeout test run


Perform analysis from the results obtained, comparison in terms of,
characterization, machine stability analysis, overkills and escaped
rejects analysis, etc.
Risk assessment on inspection and wipeout process, comparison in
terms of wire breaker assembly, vision system assembly, elevator
assembly, etc.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & SAFETY


Office in Level 5, Building 1
Specific place for office use
No desktop computer provided but bringing own laptop. Application of
TI asset in progress.
Tidy, comfortable

Appropriate smart attire


Tidy, clean and presentable
Covered shoes with heel not more than 2 inch for safety concern

Common work:Mapping all data collected into systematic format


Analysis on those data and make comparison
Explanation and justification on outliers or discrepancies

Cleanroom in Level 5, Building 2
QFN Production line, specifically in FOL cleanroom
Placement for ISP machine qualification process for post-wire bond QFN units
ESD floor
Colder but comfortable, tidy and clean

Personal protective equipment (PPE)


Smock, gloves, mask full body covered including head and foot
ESD shoes Promote electrostatic transfer from body to the ground rather than
into unit/machine
ESD verification machine Verification on electrostatic charge transfer

Common work:Understanding and studying machine functionality and applicability


Mechanical handling and perform risk assessment
Carry out test/trial inspection run and wipeout process, collect raw data
Checking machine condition and solve any occurrence, errors or issues popped
out

OBSTACLE/PROBLEM FACED DURING INTERNSHIP

1) Recipe optimization
Inspection results not as expected (over rejects, escaped rejects, consistency)
More inspection test runs performed with more variations of units to
determine its capability

2) Wipeout mechanism
Wipeout process does not perform perfectly
Wire is not broken or cut, but creating depressed or slung wire
Imbalance on levelness of supporting structure
Readjustment on levelness required to ensure perfectly
flat and balance (extremely small discrepancy)

3) Leadframe loading problem


Different factors could cause this occurrence:
pusher, leadframe clamper, centre railing, finger
Decrease inspection unit per hour (UPH)
Assist on machine required checking, fine tuning

4) Unit per hour (UPH)


Image capturing Inspection (all aspects) Wipe out
Single unit image capturing and inspection
Dual unit image capturing but single unit inspection
Software upgrade to dual unit image capturing and inspection

5) Management of massive amount of data with analysis


Raw data collected in every inspection and wipeout test run carried out
Compilation and analysis of massive amount of data has to be done on
each test run to determine accuracy, consistency and reliability

6) Date committed to customer


Obstacles delay the qualification process, not catching up with what has
been planned
Reasonable justification and explanation with effective communication

APPLICATION OF THEORY/CONCEPT ACQUIRED


1) Machine and equipment (ISP 3100V)
Wire breaker Suitable vacuum pressure required for wire suction
Vision camera Suitable field of view, sharpness of image, detectable
particle size
Leadframe, magazine clamper Suitable force, pressure applied with no
damage to leadframe and magazine while sustaining stability and
vibration

2) Censoring system
Detecting leadframe loading condition

3) Computer software
Microsoft Excel processing and compiling data in a systematic format,
variety functions help speeding up analysis process
Microsoft PowerPoint Slides presentations of projects
SolidWORKS Simulation in proving assumptions made and theory
applied
