Meaning Of Leadership

Leadership is the process of


influencing the behavior of others of
work willingly and enthusiastically for
achieving and predetermined goals.

Managerial Grid

Managerial Grid is one of the most significant


and more effective management principles.
Managerial Grid developed by Blake and
Mouton.
In this approach the grid is based on the full
and adequate (concern for people ) and
(concern for production).

Concern for production means the attitudes of


superiors towards a variety of things ,such as,
quality of policy decisions ,procedures and
process,creativeness of research,quality of staff
services,work efficiency and volume of output.

Concern for people includes concern for degree of


personal commitment toward goal achievement,
maintaining the self-esteem to workers,
responsibility based on trust, and satisfying interpersonal relations.

The managerial grid identifies five leadership styles as shown in figure.

Life cycle theory depends on the
maturity of the leader.

MATURITY.

Maturity is the part of life cycle theory.

Maturity means:- how motivated competants


experienced & intersted in accepting the
responsbility of subordinates.

The life cycle theory has much appeal to


managers.

care to explaion &clarify their own.

To explain what activities each is to do & when,
where,& how the tasks are to be accomplished, well
defined patterns of organizations.

2.RELATIONSHIP STYLE:
The leader has close personal relationship with the
members of the group & these is open
communication.

FIELDERS CONTIGENCY THEORY

Contingency theory of leadership states that


the leader to be effective must adjust
his/her style in a manner consistent with
critical aspects of the organization
context such as the nature of task &
attribution of the employees.

Leader who inspire followers to transcend


their own self interest and who are compatible
of having a profound and extraordinary effect
on followers.
