What is spinning???.....
The process fiber to yarn is called

as spinning.

Card
Machine for carding textile fibers,
a machine for disentangling fibers before they are

spun,
a machine for carding fiber materials for the
production of textiles;
a machine for carding cotton, wool, or other fiber, by
subjecting it to the action of cylinders, or drums
covered with wire-toothed cards, revolving nearly in
contact with each other, at different rates of speed, or
in opposite directions. The staple issues in soft
sheets, or in slim rolls called slivers.

Carding
Carding mechanical process that breaks tufts and
unorganized fiber up to individual fibers and then aligns
the individual fibers so that they are more parallel with
each other. And finally sliver formation from these fibers.
The proverbs of the experts The Card is the heart of the
Spinning Mill and Well Carded is half spun demonstrate
the immense significance of carding for final result of the
spinning operation.

Objectives of Carding

There are eight objectives of carding machine which

are given below: opening to individual fibers,
elimination of impurities,
elimination of dust,
Removes the neps,
elimination of short fibers,
fiber orientation,
fiber blending, and
sliver formation.

Working of carding machine

In modern carding machine ,raw-material is supplied via a pipe chute feed

system and drawn into the hopper. In hopper, fibers are stored and
transported according to requirement . The transport rollers forwards these
fibers to the feed arrangement. This consist of feed roller and feed plate
design to push the sheet fibers slowly into a operating range of taker-in.
The portion of the sheet projecting from the feed roller must be comb and
open into a smaller tuft by taker-in. These tufts passed and transfer to
main cylinder here the material losses the majority f its impurities. Suction
ducts carry away the waste. The tufts themselves are carried along with
main cylinder and opened up to individual fiber between the cylinder and
flats, This is the actual known as carding process.

Working of carding machine

After the carding operation has been completed the main

cylinder carries along the fibers that are loose and not
parallel.
However in this stage fibers are not properly aligned

doffer is require for this purpose. The doffer combines the

fiber into web a stripping device extract the web from the
doffer after that, calendar rolls have compressed the sliver
some extend, the coiler deposited its sliver in can.

into sliver, to transport it for further process.
