DALAWANG GURO

Ang gurong mabait

Ugaliy kanais-nais
Ang gurong masungit
Gawa namay nakakainis

Maaliwalas ang mukha ng una

Pangalaway nanlilisik ang mata
Kilos ng unay kaaya-aya
Pangungutya naman ang sa isa

Ang gurong may malasakit

Mga bata ang iniisip

Ang gurong salat sa bait
Makasarili at manhid

Ganda ng kalooban
Ito ang panlaban
Ng gurong marunong tumimbang
Upang walang duda o alinlangan

Galit at lakas ng boses

Ito naman ang panglihis
Ng gurong puro mintis
Ang utak niyang makitid at manipis

Ang gurong huwaran

Pinagpipitagan
Ang gurong walang kasipagan
Pagtalikod niyay dinuduraan

Ang gurong inspirasyon

Mag-aaral niyay hinahamon
Ng mapalawak kanilang dunong
Tungo lang sa tamang direksyon

Ang gurong walang pagmamahal

Sa trabaho at mag-aaral
Lahat kanyang ipinagbabawal
Ng siya lang ang nagkakamal

Alin ka sa dalawa?
Malapit ka ba sa una
O nakahihigit sayo ang pangalawa,
Kaibigan, Guro ka nga ba talaga?

Ito lamang ay isang paghahambing

Upang kurutin ang puso at damdamin

Na ang layon ay lalong buhayin

Ang totoong guro sa kalooban natin

Before the
Pambansang Kamao
became a recognized
boxer around the world,
Pacquiao was just a
young probinsyano
dreaming to make it in
Manila to provide money
for his loved ones.

Born poor in Pampanga, his Filipina

mother was the only one who raised him
and his six younger siblings. He used to
farm sweet potatoes, corn, sugar cane
and rice to help his mother provide their
family income.

But unless you get up and dance, no

course or program is going to teach
you how to lead.

You learn on your own. You learn by doin

There are three innate qualities that

are mysterious and impossible to
quantify, but real nonetheless.

The first quality is an ability

to lead.

innate desire to lead.

The money alone is rarely, if ever, adequate compensation and, I bet,

never what motivates the best leaders.

Charisma. OR presence,
a theatrical word instead.

Promising you success and

effectiveness. Resilience.
Emotional intelligence.
Character. Strategic planning.
Ethical decision-making.
SMART goals.
For each book, a different
definition of leadership.

This experience is an indication

of the mystery and intrigue
surrounding the concept of
leadership.

The mystery: many of us cannot give a clear and succinct answer

when asked to define leadership, or we operate with genuinely
disparate definitions.
The intrigue: We want to be leaders, but often we dont know how, or even what
true leadership is.

The big question is: If

addressing the worlds
complex problems need true
and real leadership, what
kind of leadership is
necessary and how do we
teach and prepare students
to provide that leadership?

Bosss Bottom Lines

Bosss Bottom Line 1

You will never know the impact you have on most of your team
members, but you will have an impact.

Set a good example. Treat people right. Leave the world

better than you

found it.

Bosss Bottom Line 2

Without followers, youre not a leader.
Youre just noise.

Bosss Bottom Line 3

There are great bosses out there doing this
every day. Just for today, you can do it too.

The just for today format.

Just for today Im going help every person on my team make a little
progress on something.
Just for today Im going to ignore my tendency to criticize first and
praise people for doing things that I want them to do more of.
Just for today Im going to make an extra effort to make sure that team
members understand my expectations. Then Im going to follow up to
make sure that understanding turns into performance.
Just for today, Im going to overcome my fear and talk to people about
performance issues. Ill describe the situation without adjectives,
outline the consequences and then wait for them to speak so we can
have a real conversation about what should be done.
Just for today, Im going to make a special effort to help everyone
succeed. That means my boss and my team members and the team
itself.

For
Bosses

Favoritism. Playing favorites poisons the team environment.

Arbitrariness. Team members need to know what to expect from you.
When they dont know, they shift effort from working to protecting
themselves.
Indecision. Part of your job is making decisions. If you cant or wont, get
out of the way and let someone else have a shot.
Lack of communication. If people dont know what you want or expect,
they will guess. This hardly ever ends well.
Lying. Why should they follow you if they cant believe you?
Letting problems fester. Problems do not heal themselves. They get
worse.
Acting like its about you. Its not. Its about accomplishing the mission

Bosss Bottom Line 4

Judge yourself by these standards.
Judge a leader by the teams results. What
matters is how the team does. If youre a leader,
the team is your destiny. Performance matters.
Judge a leader by how he or she gets
results. Its not enough to get good results.
How you get them matters, too.
Judge a leader by how he or she helps
team members succeed. You should help your
members get better at the job theyre doing
today. And you should help prepare them for the
future.
Judge a leader by the organization he or
she leaves behind. This is the ultimate test.

If there's one thing you need to

understand about leading it's this:

There is no magic formulaor being a good

leader.
There is no "best" way to think about lead
ership
. All you can do is learn as many ways of
thinking about leadership as you can, and
choose what fits best for the particular
situation you are in.

Leadership Styles: Creating a Miracle

By chipscholz

The film is called Miracle, thats how far removed

they were from victory at the outset. In the
beginning, it seemed like the coach was driving the
boys to exhaustion with obsessively rigorous drills.
He used an authoritarian leadership style.
The back story is that the coach had been dropped
from the 1960 Olympics team. Towards the middle
of the film he becomes more human. He creates a
family out of his team. As the boys mature, so
does he. He finishes with truly effective
inspirational abilities.
