CHAPTER: 1-12

CHAPTER: 1 - 3
PLOT:
In chapter 1 we meet the main character, Pi Patel in this
chapter in his adulthood. You hear Pi's monologue throughout
this chapter.
Pi tells us a lot about his interest and studies; religious studies
and zoology at the University of Toronto.
He also care to mention that he misses the heat of India, the
food and all but theres nothing more there to go back to.
Then he mentions the name Richard Parker. Pi says, "Richard
Parker has stayed with me." From the cover of the book,
readers can probably assume that he is the tiger. Pi misses him
a lot and still in the state of disbelief that Richard Parker left
him just like that.

CHAPTER: 1 -3
Pi talks about regaining his strength in the hospital in Mexico
as it was revealed that he was suffering anemic.
PI was at an Indian restaurant in Canada, the waiter teases the
way PI uses his hands to eat. Of course, this means more than
the waiter intended because it hurts his feelings a lot.
In chapter 2, we can see that the author is describing PIs
character and a bit of his personality.
Continuing to chapter 3, PI tells us about how he got his name;
Piscine Molitor Patel from. He got the name from his father
business partner Francis Adirubasamy after a swimming pool.

CHAPTER: 1 -3
Francis Adirubasamy was a talented swimmer
championship during his youth whom PI called as
Mamaji.
Then we meet PIs older brother who are very naughty
and a bit bit of a mocker.
Pi continues his story about Mamaji being a talented
swimmer and swimming competitions. Mamaji had
swam almost all of the swimming pool in Paris until he
encountered to the most beautiful pool.

CHAPTER: 1 - 3

A judgmental society.

VALUES:
Losing loved ones can teach us a lot more about life.
By adapting with the surrounding will easy our in many ways.

CHAPTER: 4 - 8
PLOT:
In chapter 4, PI was reminiscing his childhood where he had
grown up in a zoo surrounding as his father owns a zoo in
Pondicherry.
He was so into animals that he found the similarities of peoples
life and animals. He talks a lot about religion and God have the
significant with them.
At the end of the chapter he realized that the zoo was no more
there in his hometown, it just remains as memories.
In chapter 5, PI tells us more about his name that was being
mocked all around the school, people were calling him
Pissing. Even the teachers did it too without any bad intention.

CHAPTER: 4 - 8
As PI went to high school; Petit Seminaire, he had
himself ready to introduce himself as PI Patel.
He introduces himself in the most memorable way in his
first class of the day. He repeated the same thing in other
classes to make sure people recognize him as PI Patel.
In chapter 6, the author tells that PI was a good cook.
Continuing in chapter 7, he praised his teachers and felt
really grateful that he has them.
He then talks about his biology teacher Mr. Satish Kumar
who usually visits PIs fathers zoo, whom an atheist.

CHAPTER: 4 - 8
Then in chapter 8, PI relates to us about the cruelty human had
done to animals.
PI again relates to us a lesson his father once taught him.
Animals, especially tigers are not your friends.
PI's father then goes through a list of other dangerous and
abusive like animals in his zoo.

Sometimes we can relate the surroundings to the significance of our entire


life.
We have to respect peoples name.
Anyhow we have to still have faith in something.

CHAPTER: 9-12
PLOT:

In chapter 9, Pi describes the idea of flight


distance which is how far away a human can be
before an animal run away.
Zoo keepers need to reduce the flight distance so
the animal feels comfortable with human nearby.
Provide good shelter, food and water.
Pi also said that his father is a natural zoo keeper.

CHAPTER: 9-12
In chapter 10, Pi admits that there are still some animals
who escape or try to escape from zoos.
He says that this is usually the result of bad care or the
animal experiencing sudden stress, especially if it feels
that something is invading its territory.
Pi curses the bad zookeepers whose animals want to
escape, saying that they give all zoos a bad name.

CHAPTER: 9-12
In chapter 11, Pi describes the case of a black leopard
who escaped the Zurich Zoo and lived in the area
undetected for ten weeks.
Pi wonders that such a huge predator could live secretly
for so long, and uses this to prove that animals are
always just trying to fit into whatever environment they
find themselves in.
Pi thinks that cities are full of big wild animals, and
references someone trying to find an animal in the
Mexican jungle.

CHAPTER: 9-12
Continuing in chapter 12, the author interrupts again to
explain how the adult Pis tales are still interrupted by
his own memories.
The author says that Richard Parker still preys on Pis
mind.
The author made the mistake of telling Pi that he liked
spicy food, so now Pi always serves him painfully hot
food on his visits.

SYMBOLISM

PI ; Piscine Molitor Patel


Piscine Molitor Patel, known to all as just "Pi", is the narrator and
protagonist of the novel. He was named after a swimming pool in
Paris, despite the fact that neither his mother nor his father particularly
liked swimming. The story is told as a narrative from the perspective
of a middle-aged Pi.
